Can anything good come from winter?
You’ve probably said or heard this phrase. There’s not a lot of winter-loving people out there. But what if winter wasn’t just a dreaded season on the calendar, but the very place new things get ready to be birthed?
It’s been ten years since I officially began writing and since I put the title ‘writer’ in my social media bio, I’ve been asked a billion times if I have a book. To which I often reply, ‘Yes, it’s just not published yet’.
You see, I truly believe we all have a book inside of us—if you’re breathing and talking, then you’re fully alive and life always bears books.
Enough of that! What I really am writing you about is to tell you that—good things can come from winter—I have finally signed with a literary agent! (lots of cheering please) I say celebration is needed because it’s taken thousands of hours of writing, gathering people like you to my social media accounts, website and even here! Which I cannot thank you enough for being patient with me throughout all of this.
So, what’s this mean now?
Well, I am so glad you asked! Today I sent my book proposal, a 45 page document to my editor, the wonderful—Blythe Daniels, and after edits she will decide which publishers to query my book to. Then lots of praying and I will wait for God’s opening and blessing.
Right now, I am not able to share the contents of my book but let’s just say, I am certain it will meet you where you are, because I wrote it with you in mind.
So, please be praying for me and that God goes before me in this endeavor as I co-write with him.
This picture is from a recent trip we took to see our son and his wife, Jessica (pictured with me above). They recently moved from serving at a church in Colorado to outside of Austin in Leander, TX—where they are planting a church. And if you’re wondering if Texas needs another church, I can say yes with absolute certainty. On our recent visit to Leander and we spoke to people in their community, it’s needed. The area is rapidly growing and people are longing for God.
So, if you live in the area or have family there—let them know about Axiom Church, which is due to launch this fall. We are so happy to have them closer and to see what God is doing as they help further the gospel here in Texas.
And just because I am that Rurie, here’s there little guy, Jameson with his Dad at the zoo.
A week ago, I also got to be with our son Justin and his wife Ashley (and family) as they launched Iron Coast Church in Brunswick, Maine. This church has been a prayer of Joe and mine for over thirty years and to see it come to life in person—it was truly a gift! I even saw a friend that I graduated from high school with who is now a believer and serving in their church.
So, please be praying for these new churches as God does great things both in Texas and in Maine. You can pray specifically for the people that God is sending, those who are serving and the ones who will be making Iron Coast their home church.
And if you ever wonder if anything good can come from winter—Spring always brings new birth!
Thank you friends for your support, love and prayers!
Love and blessings,
Ruthann
